When Legal Aid, 30 years ago, began a volunteer lawyer program to complement its effort, I enrolled, and I am still enrolled, and proud to assist Legal Aid in providing legal assistance to those in need.

The Kentucky State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) provides information, counseling and help with applying for benefits to anyone over the age of 60 and disabled people , their family members and their caregivers. Legal Aid of the Bluegrass provides this SHIP service in part of Kentucky. Our well-trained SHIP counselors educate the general public and people who get Medicare about their benefits options so they can make better decisions about their health care. We help people living in the Bluegrass , FIVCO and Northern Kentucky counties. There is no charge for SHIP services. The SHIP program does not sell anything. You can call us for help or see us in an outreach event in your area
